Bela Rocha nasceu em Maputo. Cedo se sentiu rodeada por um ambiente onde se sublinhava o gosto pelas artes e cultura em geral. Plural e facetada, a sua procura artística começou na adolescência, entre a dança e a pintura. Estudou teatro no Berliner Ensemble, em Berlim. Também acedeu ao domínio da ilustração, colaborando no livro “Raízes de Orvalho”, de Mia Couto. Entretanto viveu no Brasil, onde desenvolveu a técnica da pintura sobre seda. Uma vez em S. Paulo, dada a natureza da sua peculiar maneira de se exprimir, a sua arte foi também usada, em termos próprios, na Alta-Costura.

Em 2014 Bela Rocha foi convidada a participar no Congresso Internacional de Antropologia em Coimbra, Portugal, onde deu uma palestra sobre as suas obras, finalizando com um debate. 

Bela Rocha foi mencionada em 2011 num artigo da conceituada revista parisiense “Latitude” com uma extensa referência à sua obra.

 

Pesquisa

A procura das suas referências antropológicas e culturais levou-a a candidatar-se a uma bolsa de estudos na Fundação Oriente. Depois de ter ganho a bolsa, os trabalhos desenvolvidos, foram tutelados esteticamente pelo professor Rocha de Sousa e João Conceição Ferreira, cujos relatórios finais tiveram bom acolhimento. Este trabalho foi realizado em condições difíceis, do ponto de vista estrutural, no entanto os problemas daí decorrentes foram superados com êxito. Bela Rocha, actualmente, vive e trabalha em Portugal, procurando aceder a novos suportes culturais e relações entre as suas principais fases, ilustradas no Portfólio - entretanto seguidas na mesma linha que conduz o olhar sobre o mundo de uma maneira irónica, satírica, ao mesmo tempo que num surrealismo lírico, patético no folclore urbano como nas memórias da ruralidade Moçambicana.

Bela Rocha was born in Maputo. Soon she felt surrounded by an environment where it emphasized the taste for the arts and culture in general. Research

 

The demand for her anthropological and cultural references led her to run for a scholarship in "Fundação Oriente" in Lisbon. After winning the scholarship, the work carried out, were aesthetically tutored by Professor Rocha de Sousa and João Conceição Ferreira, whose final reports were well received. This work was performed under difficult conditions, from a structural point of view, although the ensuing problems overcome successfully. Bela Rocha currently lives and works in Portugal, seeking access to new cultural media and relations between its main stages, illustrated in Portfolio - meanwhile followed the same line that leads the eye on the world of an ironic way, satirical, at the the same time in a lyrical surrealism, pathetic in urban folklore as the memories of the Mozambican rurality.
